I have a vintage Belknap reel type steel push lawn mower from the 1940's, does anyone know how much one would be worth if i decided to sell it? and please only answer if you know what you are talking about or deal in antiques, thank you for your time. have a blessed day

Answer
About $140

How much would you pay for someone to mow your lawn?

If someone came up to your house asking to cut your grass (if it's push mowable) would you go for 1$ per minute or is that to much?

Answer
Never pay anyone by the hour to do any landscape or plant care related work. It is too hard to estimate how long each project will take to do. Also, most people who do such work do not keep very accurate record of their time.

It is much better to pay them by the job and to wait to pay them anything until they are done with the project. It is too tempting to do a less than adequate job if one gets paid in advance.

Really, the amount to pay comes down to how much you consider your own time to be worth. How much do you value the time it would take you to mow the grass yourself? If you are in a situation where you can not physically do the work yourself due to health reasons or something, I would think that would make the job more valuable than say, if you were hiring it done so you could just take a nap or something. It would also possibly be worth a bit more to you if you were getting something done that could potentially make you some money. If you are needing to spend more time at the office or you have a big project to finish up or something like that, the lawn care would be worth more than if you are hiring it done just so you can sit inside and watch TV.

Another way to look at it is this: If someone were to ask you to do something for them, how much would you hope that they would pay You do do it? If $10 for a days work would seem too little to you for example, but $20 would seem about right, then that is what I'd pay the guy for doing the lawn.

I do yard work from time to time to make extra money. Most of the people I do it for pay me anywhere from $10 to $40 to mow a lawn with my own mower and other equipment (edgers, trimmers etc). I think it depends partly on how big their yard is, how easily they could do it themselves, and (like I mentioned above) how precious they consider their free time to be.
