best lawn mower with mulcher image
John
1. Is any form of heat treatment used on the mower blades?
2. Do both the standard mower and the mulching mower have a catcher?
3. How does the mulching feature work?
Answer
At one time I believe early mulchers had twin blades and no catcher.as they developed it seems bags went back to standard(optional), and the blades went single with a special shape that supposedly re cut (mulch) the grass as well. I have a craftsman and a Troy built-w/ bags (both mulchers) and though they do cut the grass finer-I cant find any real differance as I cant continually mow without bag( and when done- sprinkler heads cover w/the mulch :(

Difference between standard lawn mower and mulching mower?

Answer
!. All blades have heat treatment procedures.
2. By and large, most mowers don't have catchers. They're more expensive. More people choose the mulcher type mower to recycle the clippings as fertilizer.
3. As explained in an earlier question, the mulching mower keeps the side discharge opening closed to keep the clippings in the blade cavity longer. The mulcher blade has specially formed blade tips which create a lift inside the blade cavity. This keeps the clippings moving in the air longer, allowing a finer cutting of the clippings.
