Lawn Mower wires?

xx_missing

Im stupid enough to have tried mowing the lawn and cut through the damn wire, is there a plastic thing (i have no idea what the technical term is) which is where u can strip the wires or something and put them together using a plastic connect thing?? I have no idea what im talking about as you have gathered. but my brother said they do something like that in b&q?? :S

Answer
yes, you can buy a power plug and fit it to the wires, but be warned, you are dealing with lethal voltages, so don't hook it up wrong. It might be worth your while to offer an electrician a carton of beer to do it for you

Who stole my lawn mower? I can't offer a reward but will give best answer to anyone with useful information.

Glad I read this remember me??
I'll give you a hint, you moved in next door to me a couple of months ago, new furniture, new lawn mower, new every thing.
My wife began asking why cant we have this that and the other?
One of your first jobs was to come out and cut your grass with your nice new mower.
My wife was watching "Why cant you cut our grass like that"??? etc etc.
Next day when the coast was clear I dug out my trusty old mower and started my lawn, it took about 3 minutes to emit a loud bang and stop working!! I was fuming, but I suddenly remembered your brand new job, I would ask to borrow that. I started to walk to your door, I was thinking "I bet she wont lend it to me" walked a bit further and finally convinced myself you wouldnt lend it to me, I hammered on your door, you opened the door and smiled at me, I yelled "Stuff your new mower right up your a**"!!!!
I strode off, you looked a bit shocked. I was thinking it would serve you right if your nice new mower went missing!!!!!
Nothing to do with me of course, I havent got it, just telling you what I was thinking!

Which walk-behind lawn mower has the largest blade / cutting area?

Neerdowell

I need a new lawn mower, as both my riding mower and push mower are requiring too many trips to the repair shop to stay running. I can't afford a new riding mower, but I hate the small cutting area that a walk-behind mower usually offers. Is there a walk-behind lawn mower out there that has an extra large blade that provides a much larger cutting area?
Okay, I guess I should've said consumer grade walk-behind mower. If I could afford a commercial grade walk-behind mower, I would be able to afford a consumer grade riding mower, which I can't.

Answer
There are several brands of lawn mowers that have a 22" cutting area. That is about as large as you will find on a standard push lawn mower. From there, they go down to 21, 20, and even 17". You can find one of the 22" mowers at Home Depot or Lowe's or some other store like that. To get any larger than that would require that you buy an industrial mower or professional grade mower, which as you said you can't afford.

Why are lawn mowers so expensive?

Q. I've been wanting to start a mowing business but I've been having trouble figuring out the prices for mowers. You can buy a nice self propelled 21" mower for $300 but then if you want a 32" mower suddenly the price shoots up to about $1500. Why do lawn mowers cost so much? You can buy a riding lawn mower for the price of a 32".

Answer
Mower manufacturers have mowers they usually sell to home owners, or people that just mow for themselves. Then they have their "commercial" line of mowers, always more expensive. Just know, they all make the grass shorter.
Commercial units are usually built a bit stronger. Maybe a better motor with longer maintenance times, heavier built decks and blades, bigger gas tanks, oil filters to increase longevity. If I was starting out, I would go to craigslist(dot)org. I have always found several mowers, riders, commercial, and push mowers, as well as trimmers, trailers and any other tool you might need. Most people live close to 2 to 4 markets of CL that offer a variety of products.
So, buy used, as you develop the business, you will see and appreciate specific models and brands, then you can splurge on your favorite power tool.

I'm having a tough time deciding in choosing a lawn mower. Can you please help?

Toro - 19 horse power Koedler engine
Cub Cadet - 19 horse power Koedler engine
Troy - 18.5 horse power Koedler engine
John Deer - 19 horse power Straggs engine
Lawn Boy - 19 horse power Honda engine

All lawn mowers are 42 inch cut zero turn radius and come from a major retailer like Lowe's and Home Depot. Is it better to purchase a lawn mower directly from the company dealer (ex. buy a John Deer from a John Deer dealer) and which one of these lawn mowers will be the most durable?

Answer
From my personal experience, I find the Briggs & Stratton and Honda the most reliable, with the Koedler doing well in third. Durability wise, nothing beats a John Deere.

Home Cheapo or Lower's are probably you best bet, unless you can get it direct cheaper from the manufacturer or dealer. It would take some comparison shopping. Usually around Father's day (upcoming) they offer some great deals on these in any of these places - check your newspaper circular for the best deal.

Also don't rule out "refurbed" if you are looking for a bargain - that is how I got my last mower for about 1/2 of what it retailed for normally...

Should I buy a residential lawn mower or a commercial one?

Joe

I have 7 lawns and my lawn mower just broke and i was wondering should i buy a riding mower or a push mower
my lawns usually took me 2 hours to do with a 21 inch cut deck

Answer
A commercial lawn mower would be a better idea as they are very efficient and good at cutting grass. The companies that provide you with them offer a limited service option as well. This way if something goes wrong you can always rely on them to offer professional service. Here are a few cheap lawn mowers which you could probably use => http://home-and-garden.become.com/cheap-lawn-mowers-riding

Graciela,

My aunt offered me a good deal on her old riding lawn mower and I really want to buy it. Unfortunately, I have no place for it. My garage is too small, and our cars barely fit already. I have no shed and can't afford to build one. Are there any other options?

Answer
Sheds really aren't that expensive. you can pick up a cheap DIY plastic shed for very little money.

if that still isn't an option, go with a tarp. just park the thing next to your house and lay the tarp over it. if it's windy, make sure to stake it down.

What lawn mower should i buy and how much should i charge per lawn?

~*Michael*

Im 14 years old and am looking to start a lawn mowing buisness this spring. Although, i have no idea what kind of lawn mower to get (push, ride on, etc.) as well as what brand to get. Also how much should i charge per lawn? Last thing, whatelse besides lawn mowing should i offer to clients?
thankyouu, all answers are appreciated.

Answer
A riding lawnmower will do larger yards faster, but you have to consider how to get it to your job site. If you live in a city and the lots are small, go with a push mower because you can get closer to fences and around trees. You might also want to offer trim hedges. You could consider doing evergreen trees shaping them, if you can find some to practice on.
