How good is the toro supper bagger?

I am thinking of getting a toro super bagger with Honda 160 engine. The other is a Honda hrx mower. What are your opinions so I can choose the mower? Thanks

I'd go with recommendations by Consumer Reports. They just came out with their latest reviews of the top lawn mowers for this year and several Toro mowers are on top of the list. The Toro Super Bagger 20192 is one of their top "Recommended" mowers.

Push Mower Oil Smoking?

I was pushmowing my lawn with my self-propelled push-mower and i was mowing for about an hour then stopped to take a break and check the gas and oil, first i opened the oil cap and what seemed to be smoke or steam was coming out of where the oil is stored. Is this normal for a older pushmower? It was bought brand new in 1990 and in 2001 i didnt use it until 2011. It runs perfectly. Is this normal or did it overheat.
Almost all the time when I mow smoke comes out of the exaust. And when i get done a little more smoke comes out. I just added oil because it needed to be added about a month ago. It was really struggling. 2 words. HIGH GRASS. And big giant hill.

If there is no smoke coming out of the exhaust while you are mowing it shouldn't be a problem. The smoke you seen while opening the cap was probably just heat from the motor burning a little oil. It is possible that you have a piston ring going bad but until you see it coming out the exhaust I wouldn't worry to much.

Edit to your addition: Then it probably is a piston ring gone bad. It could be a head gasket but most likely a ring is wore and oil is sneaking past the ring and being burned. It's not an easy fix either way unless you have really good mechanical background. Either time for a new one or take it to a small engine repair. Sorry for the bad news :( Good luck!

Toro E-cycler cordless mower?

I am thinking of getting the Toro cordless mower and worried about how it cuts thick grass. My yard has thick grass and it has a lot of moisture. I am curious how dose this mower do by it being cordless? Also if not this mower how about the Toro gas mowers like the ones with the pace self propelled systems with either electric start or blade brakes? thank you

If you are looking for a Toro mower, I would go with recommendations by Consumer Reports. They just came out with their latest reviews of the top lawn mowers for this year and several Toro mowers are on the list. But they are all gas-powered. If you have a large yard and thick grass, I'd go with the gas mowers as it's more powerful than electric mowers.

Best Brand of Lawn Equipment?

I'm looking to buy a gas mower and edger. What features are important and what brands are best without killing my wallet? The max I'm looking to spend on the mower is $300.

You can buy a decent mower at Home Depot for about $300- $350. It will be a rear discharge and be self propelled. Consumer Reports Magazine recommends the Toro Recycler 20332 in this price range.
$50 more buys a Toro 20333 or a Honda HRR216K7VKA which are similar but rated slightly better on ease of use All three of these were Best Buys in CR's May 2011 issue.
