How do you get a lawn mower tire to go back on the rim?

I have a flat tire on my riding lawn mower. It's off the rim about a inch. I'm not sure what I need to do to fix it. It's one of the back tires.

first it probably came off the rim from low air. you need to fix the leak first. you need to remove the tire from the machine,take the tire off the rim with a screw diver(being careful not to poke the tube) this should be easy as it's already coming off.fill the tube with air and hold under water in the sink. patch kits are available at hdwre stores or circle k. after repair or if tube is not flat to start you need to release air and push tire back in place with fingers until it gets tough then use regular screwdriver to finish. fill with air. easier to take to tire repair 4or 5$ good luck.

polyurethane foam in lawn mower tire?

is there a name brand foam in a can that will work to inject in a small tire / wheel that will not be used on highway.i know there are commercial co. out there to do this. has any one had good luck with doing it them self.
no fix a flat it makes a mess and that's about all.

MOTHER'S is the answer to the question. The Mother's company makes a tire filling foam. It is not a fix-a-flat type thing that only seals air leaks, it is an expanding foam material that fills the entire tire and makes it sort of a semi-solid rubber donut. It'll never go flat again. You can buy the stuff at Wal-Mart, Pep-Boys, and most farm tire and equipment retailers as well as racing and car enthusiast suppliers..

I know this is the wrong section. I couldn't get an answer in other sections. I'm trying to get the actual tire on the rim. The back wheels.

hammer a couple big screwdrivers pry off front side most of time after you pop the tire bead on both side you pry off with two scewdrivers soapy water helps... and really a tire shop would do it for 10 to 20 bucks... only hard part will be getting the tires bead to pop down after that you should have a problem

Doozier I take wheels off and use long flat blade screwdriver to remove tires. When installing your new tire, buy small ratchet strap wrench. Put the strap wrench around center of tire and tighten up, you will need to do this to get tire to take air, release strap wrench after tire starts taking air. I put link at bottom, for you to see ratchet strap wrench. You can buy cheap one at Walmart or dollar store.

Yes it's a riding mower, sorry. I 'm just trying to figure out how to get the actual tire on the rim the correct way.

Speaking from experience, you can do it yourself, but it's really not worth the aggravation.

Call around to tire dealers that do truck/industrial tires - you'll probably be looking for "turf saver" tires, most are made by Carlisle Tire. They'll be able to order them easily and then take in your rims/tire and they'll put them on for you for a small charge. Also consider having the put an "anti-flat" like Slime in the tire.

The reason I don't suggest doing it yourself is that the small diameter tractor tires are very hard to stretch over the rim. Of course you could do it, but you'll need an assortment of prybars and big screwdrivers to stretch the tire over the rim. The technique is just to push the rear bead on and then pry the front bead over the rim. Usually just a brute force maneuver. Also use lots of dishsoap as a lubricant. Then you'll need to seat the bead of the tire. If the tire is very loose on the rim, this is best done by wrapping a rope or tie down around the tread and tightening it until the bead contacts the rim and makes a seal. You should also replace the valve stem while the tire is off. Better safe than sorry. After all that you still need to get rid of the old tires. They usually can't be put out with the regular house trash.

The tire company I use charges me $6 to mount the tire and $1 to recycle the old one. I need to go to the tire place anyway to pick up the tires, so for $7 more, I save myself an extra hour or so of work, well worth it to me.

I have a Murray 20" plain old push mower. 2 of the wheels have gotten quite loose and make it very difficult to push as they go on a slant now. I thought I could just tighten the nut but nothing happen. I can't see under the mower to well but it appears to be a normal nut (may be wrong) but when I clamp it and tighten the bolt it doesn't actually tighten. I did notice that the bolt doesn't slide like one would expect if the nut was loose.
Any Help??

The bolts that hold the wheels on a push mower are shoulder bolts. They have a sort of smooth shaft area from just under the head to the threaded portion, which acts as an axle for the wheel to turn on. You can't tighten these wheels, as the shoulder of the bolt will already be in contact with the frame of the mower deck. What's most likely happened is that the inside of the wheel itself, which is probably plastic, has simply wallered the hole out to a size that allows it to flip flop from side to side or just run sideways. You need to get to either a good hardware or a mower repair facility and buy some new wheels to install. Then you'll be back to mowing straight.

Weve used WD-40 Hit it with a hammer etc.. and the tire still will not come off because of build up anybody got a suggestion on how to get it off?

If its the bolts that won't come off just try some heat then try to tighten the bolt first then loosen, do this several times it will crack the seal and should be able to take it off. If its the tire try tapping all around the tire don't smash it that should just jam it up on the opposite side.

Can I substitute lawn mower tires?

I have an older Scotts riding mower that has the original 15x6.5-6.0 tires, which have rotted. I just went to Lowes and bought replacement wheel/tire sets, but they're 15x6.0-6.0.

I pulled the old wheels off and tried to slide the new wheels on and they don't fit on the axle. The hub hole is too small, won't go on.

Since the original size 15x6.5-6.0 tires are hard to find, I'm wondering if I can take the new 15x6.0-6.0 tires off of the new wheels and fit them onto my old 15x6.5-6.0 wheels. Will they fit?

By the way, what do all of those numbers indicate?

The 15 is the surface and the 6.5 is the wheel diameter. The 15x6.0 will not fit on the 15x 6.5 wheels. The diameter of the wheel will be too large. There is a bushing in the wheel that you may be able to change to fit your axle or ream it out to fit depending on the size difference.
I just looked at tiresunlimited.com and they have 6.5" tires. They may not have the 15x6.5 but they have 13x6.5 and 16x6.5. You may have to adjust the deck height but they would fit your wheels. 1ststoptires.com is another site that has 6.5" tires.

Mounting Tubeless tire on Rim of riding lawn mower?

I have a flat tire of one of the Larger rear tubeless tires on my Yard Machines MTD riding mower. The problem is when I apply air from hi-pressure hose, there is no way for the tire to seal around the rim so it inflates. There must be a trick to get the tire to basically puff up so it expands over the rim. One auto tire guy suggested rubbing soap and water around the tire seal on both sides and as I apply air push in on the tread......well no that didn't work.

The mower is on a jack lift so the tire spins freely.
I'm using a mechanic shop quality air pressure electric pump.

Run a good stout rope around the circumferance of the tire, in the center. Use a long screwdriver or bar and twist it tight. This will make the tire flare out and seat the beads on the rim. Put air in it, you will be able to feel the tire taking air. Untwist the rope as it fills. I have also used ratcheting tiedown straps. When it starts taking air loosen the strap. At a tire shop they have a device that does the same thing but it inflates with air pressure. Just don't get your fingers in the wrong place. I usually leave the valve core out at first so the air will come back out but it will leave the tire seated on the wheel. It also might be easier to work on if you removed the wheel.

Wanted to know best and safest way to cut grass. What lawn mower buy and safety considerations.?

I am a retired college teaching professor, who has taken over raking leaves. Now want to go to cutting grass on lawn. The lawn is straight and small in front. In the back there really is not much grass. The lawn is more the crabgrass type. Even with the greatest of efforts, it will not get that "golf green" lawn look.

I am not interested in a riding lawn mower. Have talked to a couple of people. It looks like a push lawn mower with a bag is the way for me to go. Someone mentioned having one in which you do not have adjust the wheels.

Am concerned about what would be best to buy, where. Safety is also a major concern on how to adjust the blades, and any other matters should know about.

Tired of walking and thought practical exercise would be good. The mower would pay for itself soon.

Any suggestions about operating and buying a motorized push lawn mower would be greatly appreciated.

As long as I can remember my family has always used a Briggs & Stratton lawn mower. Our lawn has always looked picture perfect!!!

We have 2 new lawn mower tyres that arrived squished flat and can't get them to spread out to seal on the rim. Have tried the strap around the middle but because they have two folds in them this hasn't worked. Any ideas?

You could take them off the rims and stuff them full of rags or something and let them sit overnite. Once you get them back to the original shape, you could try putting a generous application of bead sealer on the beads. You can find it at a tire supply place. It was hard to find, but I got hold of a big can of it and used it for ATV tire mounting.

If i heat a lawn mower tire up in the oven will it straighten out the wrinkles in it?

If the tire will go onto the rim place it on the wheel and use a rope or cargo strap to expand the bead so that it will seat when inflated. if it won't go onto the rim use a heat gun to remove the wrinkles just make sure to keep the heat moving.
