My car is running low on gas and I don't feel like running into town and spending $4 a gallon. I have some gas in the shed for my John Deere riding lawn mower. If I put that gas in my car (which is a 4 cylinder by the way) will if hurt it?

Answer
Some lawn mower gas is different, I would not do this as to the risk of your vehicles engine. If all you had in house was heavy cream or Breast milk, would you put it in your cereal? Do you like your vehicle?

How do I get my riding lawn mower ready for spring?

My riding lawn mower is pretty old. It was stored in a garage with radiant floor heating this winter and I had put stabilizer in the fuel the last time I used it. Nothing else was done. What do I have to do to get it ready to start cutting grass?

Answer
Well, start by changing the oil (use 20w-50) & filter (if it has one), placing fresh gas in it, giving the blade(s) a good sharpening. Take the air cleaner off and clean the air filter. take the spark plug(s) out and clean or replace them.Take the battery cables off and cleaning the ends with a wire brush. Take a very good look at the belts and note the part #'s of each, as there may be a good chance of needing a replacement at some point during the cutting season. Do the same with the tires and make sure the pressure is the same in each one. Use a can of white lithium grease on the mechanical deck levers, steering mechanism and anything that use a grease gun on anything that has a zerk fitting. Check any drive gear oil(s) and top them off or change them. (some machines use 75W-90 gear oil)

This same service would ordinarily cost you around $300 so do it yourself and save that cash!
happy cutting....
