Q. A lawn mower produces a decibel rating of 90 dB. How many identical mowers could you add without exceeding a sound intensity of 110 dB?
Answer
Given:
1 lawn mower producing a sound level of 90 dB.
Wanted:
Increase of level Î L = 20 dB (90 dB + 20 dB = 110 dB)
Formula:
n = 10^(ÎL/10) = 10^(20/10) = 100
ÎL = level difference (increase of level)
n = number of equal loud sound sources.
Increase of level Î L = 20 dB
Number of sound sources n = 100
100 identical lawn mowers produce a sound level of L = 110 dB,
when 1 mower produces a sound level of L = 90 dB.

Is a Husqvarna lawn mower supposed to make a scraping noise when self-propelled?
answerman
I just bought a new Husky lawn mower and when I use the self-propel feature, it makes a noise like metal scraping metal. The oil level is full. Is this normal? Might it go away after using it a little bit? Thanks.
Answer
It sounds like it could be a loose flywheel.
