Q. A lawn mower produces a decibel rating of 90 dB. How many identical mowers could you add without exceeding a sound intensity of 110 dB?

Answer
Given:
1 lawn mower producing a sound level of 90 dB.
Wanted:
Increase of level Î L = 20 dB (90 dB + 20 dB = 110 dB)

Formula:
n = 10^(ÎL/10) = 10^(20/10) = 100
ÎL = level difference (increase of level)
n = number of equal loud sound sources.

Increase of level Î L = 20 dB
Number of sound sources n = 100

100 identical lawn mowers produce a sound level of L = 110 dB,
when 1 mower produces a sound level of L = 90 dB.

Lawn Mower Help!?

I ? my ass

My family and I own over 10 acres together. Mowing the lawn is an all day job. Does anyone know about a heavy duty lawn mower, thats big and can get the job done quicker?
If you have websites, thats good too.

Thanks.

Answer
With 10+ acres to mow you may have to forsake the traditional riding lawnmower with a deck of 4' to 5' wide.

Consider getting a commercial lawnmower like golf courses and sod farms use. In addition to the underbelly deck there is a wing deck on each side. The wing decks can be raised for transport, and lowered for mowing.
