Need help deciding on what kind of mower to buy what the best brand?

For the lawn mower brands, I know the Black & Decker, Einhell, GMC, Oleo-Mac. For best brand, I think is the Black & Decker, the Einhell is okay well.

Can anyone recommend a GOOD petrol lawn mower?
The one I have now (3rd in 5 years) started good and then declined rapidly
Last one cost £349, and getting 2 years from it was a poor return.
Looking at £600.........but ONLY if its a good 'un!!
MUST be petrol and self-propelled

I have a 22 inch Bolen's self propelled mulching mower that I bought for $219 at Home Depot (US). It has been running fine for the last 3 years. It sounds like you may need some maintenance, particularly cleaning the air filter and spark plug. If that doesn't do it take it to a repair shop. It should not be worn out after only 2 years.

How do i select the best lawn mower for my lawn? I have a small lawn and please suggest me a best lawn mower type and which lawn mower to buy. I'm from UK.

A cylinder mower will generally give you a better, finer cut. However getting through thick grass with them is difficult. In Spring, when you start cutting, you may find this an issue. As a rule they're also more expensive, well good ones are .
Rotary mowers get through thick grass better. If you want stripes get one with a roller. They come in a range of sizes and may be more manoeuvrable around a smaller lawn.
Hover mowers are good for banks, slopes etc.
Personally for your plot a smaller to mid size petrol rotary may fit the bill. Not keen on electric cabled mowers because of the danger of cutting the flex and inconvenience.

conversion of UK power to US power 1100 Watt Lawn Mower?

Is it reasonable to use a converter to use a power converter with a Lawn Mower, which is built to work in the UK.

What kind of adapter would I need to buy.
Is there one that has a circuit breaker, that could handle this?
The mower is for the UK, and I want to use it in the US

I am wondering if the best solution (besides buying one designed to work in the US) is to get a converter that works with the 220 plug that my clothes dryer is plugged into.
Then would I only need a plug converter, and not a need to convert the power voltage?
My dryer plug in is likey 220V, correct? (isn't 220 standard for appliances like ovens and dryers, in the US?)
The lawn mower is 240V (I think, at least that is what the internet says for this model).

I am thinking that going from 220V to 240V should not require the massive converter box that going from 110 to 240 would.
However, all of the converters I am seeing say
110/120 to 220/240.
I am not seeing anything that does 220 to 240.
Does such a converter exist.

I am also seeing differences in the specifications for the wattage. But I think 1100 is the correct value.
I decided to either buy a converter rated to handle the lawn mower, or return it.
I think I can return it (purchased from Amazon.uk by mistake).
What I find interesting is that Amazon.us also shows the item, but from an outside (of amazon) seller, and for a few hundred more (when shipping is considered).
It has to be the same mower, since Bosch does not make this mower for sale in the US.

You can use it, but it might not last as long here.
A UK machine will be designed for 230V 50 Hz. AC.
The 240V. you get in the US from a 2 pole breaker is fine, (That '220' dryer plug you mention),
but there will be some small overheating/power loss with any motor designed for 50 hz,
running on US 60 Hz AC.
Just install the proper plug to fit the dryer outlet.
Be sure to get the connections right, and DO use a grounding cord.
Ground the mower frame to be safe.
Brit color codes will be connected: red or brown, and, black or blue, to U.S. Red & Black
Ground Brit green/yellow to US green or bare Gnd.

NOTE: In the old Brit. system Black was a grounded neutral. check the wiring of the mower
to be sure it wasn't used as an equipment ground. (Unlikely but possible.)
If it was, the above wiring scheme is unsafe and the mower shouldn't be used here
without a transformer to give you that voltage to ground.
(Probably too expensive to bother with.)

Why do i ocasionally have strange temporary vision improvement?

Okay so one time i had this bad chest pain and it really felt bad like something was wrong but suddenly it went away but when it did my vision had improved instantly for some reason compaired to how it normaly is but that only lasted a minute

I also recently was filling up the lawn mower with gasoline and i may have breathed in a small amount of the fumes but not enough that it should have effected me and suddenly my colour vision was improved and everything seemed brighter and more vibrant for a minute.

Did some strange thing actually make htis happen or am i just imagining it?

Hello - I am an Eyesight Improvement Teacher in the UK and I teach the Bates Method. I would guess that what has happened to you is that on both occasions you temporarily dropped your usually habits of seeing - possibly through the shock of the chest pain and the chemical fumes your usual tension and straining to see dropped away and you were able briefly to see the world more clearly and with brighter colours. Then as the world returned to normal your habits returned.
This is how people improve their eyesight - you have proof that it can be done - now you can choose what you do with that new insight (no pun intended).

I just went on my first house tour and was amazed by the random stuff I found left behind. One house had a chicken figure with feathers glued on it. One garage had 3 lawn mowers, 2 printers, 5 tv's, 3 bikes, and much more...

I am wondering what funny/random/gross/amazing things people have found while touring homes or moving in.

I once sold a house in the UK that had been repossessed and had been left with a tap running for at least a fortnight.

The house had an abundance of fruitflies, mould, mildew damp and by the time we had sold it, it even had mushrooms and grass growing on the carpet.

He might be thinking of the Mother Earth news "Handbook of Home Made Power," which is not all that good. There are maybe 4 projects worth looking at, but they comprise only a small portion of the book. The book is more about just talking about home made power.

What are the best headphones to use while mowing?

I do a lot of lawn mowing on a riding lawn mower, and would really like to be able to listen to music while mowing. What are some good inexpensive ($50 or less) over ear headphones that would block out the sound from the mower so that I don't have to crank up the volume too loud?

My favourite ( back to affordable kit) is the HD570 Symphony headphones but they are now discontinued and hard to find ( took me months to track some down) , and I also use the HD 580 and HD595 for serious listening, and the HD500 as everyday big phones, which all completely cover the ears and keep external noise at bay reasonably well, and the smaller HD25 for traveling....the same model as was used on all Concorde flights...which are also good at suppressing external noise but don't cover the ears completely like the 205 and the others mentioned.
