best lawn mower consumer review image
D
Well my current lawn mower is a piece of crap now so i was planning on buying a new one soon.
I have narrowed my choices down to 2 self propelled mowers.
1) Craftmans 160cc 22'' rear propelled (from sears)
or
2) Troy-Blit 21'' self propelled rear wheeled (from lowes)
Both have 4 star reviews and I just dont know lol.
Which would you pick and WHY?
Answer
Consumer Reports rates the self-propelled mowers as following: The top 8 rated mowers are Honda and Toro. In 9th place is the craftman. The best Troybuilt is rates in 23rd place. So, Consumer Reports rates the Craftman mower much better than the Troybuilt. This was based on 35,229 self propelled mower owners.I would consider buying a Toro, Its only $10 more than the Troybuilt and $200 less than Honda and its rated the best of them all in fewest repairs. That is just my thought.

any review's on toro lawn mower model no 20439?

was thinking of buying a used 1 that just had a new blade clutch replaced?
Answer
I have similar model, I like it, still starts, runs cuts great. My model does not have the blade break clutch. Not sure how that effects the longevity. Other than regular maintenance, I have only had to replace the piece that holds the blade onto the motor shaft. ($12)
You should be able to find a consumer reports review (93' - 94') of a similar model at your local library.
You can find the manual and some parts info here:

Happy Mowing :)
