Some guy
I have a push lawn mower that I found out today is running a bit rough and dieing sometimes. I think the carburetor and/or fuel line needs cleaning. I need the mower tomorrow and won't have time to take the mower to a shop. What would happen if I added automotive fuel line cleaner to the mowers gas? Would it clean the fuel line? Would it cause more problems? Please help.

My lawn mower will not start. If I prime it, it will run for about 3 seconds and die. If I do not prime it it will not run at all.
Answer
Could be many things. The easiest: Check the gas tank and make sure there is clean fuel in it. Check the spark plug, make sure it is clean, dry and connected. Then, check the air filter if it is clogged at all, it will cause these symptoms. Then, remove the carberator and clean it with carb cleaner. I've rarely seen any problems go beyond these unless you absolutely abuse your lawn mower. Total cost for doing all this around $7.00.
