my lawn is a fairly small lawn, but the grass tends to grow a few inches tall...

Answer
I really can't tell from the links. It more depends on how big your yard is, and do you really need to bag the grass. If you have a large lawn, you will want a wider mower and at least a 5 horsepower engine, 6 horsepower if you are bagging.
On a small lawn, a 3.5 horsepower mower will work, 5 horsepower if you are bagging.

Mower Problems?

I have a Briggs and Stratton 5.0 hp push lawn mower. Right now, even with a full tank, it sputs and wheezes, as if it were starved for fuel. It's about 5 years old... spent last winter outside but other than that, well cared for. Is something clogged, need changing or what?

10 points for a smooth running mower!

Answer
At 5 years, you are almost undoubtedly looking at a carburetor problem. The short (and cheapest) solution is to get the engines model number and get a new 'grey market' carburetor from an internet based parts house. Skip your local "small engine specialist" and his $80 per hour plus parts (and the two to four weeks it'll take him just to get to your machine this time of year) and just get the carb. These consumer grade engines are rollin scrap and crude as hell. I don't set gaps, check clearances or torque anything on them...anymore. I just get the cheapest replacement chunk that I can find and slap it on. Blammo, back in business.
