When I try to put the mower in gear it is really hard. The lever you use to put the mower in gear is really hard to move..Do you have any ideas on the matter please Help..

Answer
The drive belt is a take off PTO system. Normally when a riding
mower is shifted you are dealing solely with a gearbox. These
two systems are very separate and have different requirements for
them to work. The PTO or power take off uses centrifugal force
and torsion and tension on revolving surfaces. Now a gearbox has
fluid within it and for it to operate smoothly needs a constant
required level to operate properly. Check your gearbox Moly Level
(Gear Oil) to see if the level is adequate. If the level is right, then
go to your PTO Belt and adjust the tension of the belt, You should
only be able to deflect the belt about 3/4 of an inch to 1 inch if properly
tensioned. Too much tension too much torque on operating surfaces.
Not enough the belt slips. If there is a grating or grinding
noise on shifting you have a gear problem and continued operation
under this condition can get extremely costly. If this is your situation
take your mower to a Lawnmower repair shop and let the expert find
out what your options are.

what is the resale value of my john deere riding lawnmower?

Answer
Long time ago it might be something cool and expensive to have for a man's toy for his yard. Nowadays, you can get it from Lowe's home improvement for about a little over $ 1,000, and get a nice one. If you didn't have Lowe's charge card yet when you apply for it then you might get 10% off. The catch is pay off as soon as you could, and don't buy anything else with it. Then chances are you wouldn't come ahead with the deal. Enjoy your yard.
