Answer
If your mower is a walk behind self propelled. Remove wire from spark plug. Lay mower on its side with air filter being up. Place belt over blade, in the small pulley. Feed the belt through channel that goes to drive box. Start belt around pulley and turn clockwise it will go in pulley. It is important that you disconnect SPARK PLUG WIRE to keep mower from starting. If you had posted model No. I could have been more helpful I hope this helps some.
Good Luck

Lawn mower pull-start locked?

Son was cutting grass with a push mower the other day and hit the water meter. The blade still turns but the pull start rope won't budge. What's the damage?
Answer
Blade still turns, hmm?
Does your mower keep running if you let go of the safety lever? That means the PTO (power take-off) declutches the engine from the blade. That's a good safety measure. The old way was let go of the bar, and everything stopped - engine included.
Actually, the very old way was to let go of the handle and everything kept going - you were expected to be responsible for your own safety and if you lost a toe or something, that was your own stupid fault. Ah, the good old days.
But if your engine would keep running, then I would say the impact bent the crankshaft or connecting rod. The blade will still turn because it's just a blade on a shaft, nothing attached to it. But the engine, now. The engine is toast.
You're going to need a new one.
No biggie. Get a replacement engine, bolt it on and off you go. Easy-squeezy. I've done several.
