Hi, I'm getting too old to pull start my plow with its current wind up rope pull starter. Is it possible to put a recoil pull starter or an electric starter on an old tractor plow? I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks, Jim
Answer
I took the pull coil off my snow blower, lawn mower, and start them with an electric drill and a socket that fits the nut under the recoil start, ( rope pull )

Tips for starting an independent lawn care business?
Mysterion
My brother and I are starting a small independent lawn care business doing things like cut grass, trim pushes, plant flowers, things like that. For anyone that has experience with a small business like that, do you have any tips? Thanks in advance.
Answer
I started my own business with purchasing a good used commercial walk-behind mower with a 48 inch wide deck, then a couple of regular lawn mowers & commercial string trimmers. You will also need a truck with four wheel drive and a trailer to carry all the equipment. The key to get your business going is advertising your services by word of mouth and local radio advertising, if you can afford the cost. I had my own business but it failed due to the competition who had money & resources and services that I didn't have because I was a one man company. You will find out that many people want their property landscaped and not just their grass cut & trimmed. The real money is not cutting grass, but in snow plowing if you live in an area that gets snow. I charged $35.00 to cut the grass of the average residential size yard, because that was the going rate across the board, but it varied in price if the yard was huge or very small. Watch out for your competitors they will cause problems for you, if they think you are a threat to their business. They use all sorts of shady tactics to eliminate competition from their area.
