I am fully changing the old motor oil in my CRAFTSMAN Rotary Lawn mower.
This 625-series, Briggs & Stratton motor turns a 22 inch blade to a side-discharge.

I need to know how much (I am using 30 weight) motor oil I need to buy to fully refill this motor after I drain it.
Thanks for knowledgeable replies.

Answer
Sir;
For security reasons Unplug the wire from the spark plug first.

On this type of engine you need to know that the drain plug is under the engine and you must have the engine high enough for you to be able to reach that plug.
I believe american ounces are the same as Canadian.
Just make sure you dealer can confirm this OK.
(( Do not Tilt the engine from side to side)) as the oil will go up the oil galleries and will foul the combustion chamber and you will not be able to start the Motor.

It is either a 1/4 inch drain plug hole where you will need an extension of about 6 inches long from a ratchet set to unscrew that plug.
On some briggs engines some drain plugs are to be removed with octagonal Type Allen wrench or a small straight Allen wrench where you will use a wrench to leverage the removal. _____!

Once the oil is drained re-install the plug Tight, Insert 15 and a Half ounces of SAE oil 30 (detergent) oil or 10w30 sae oil.
NEVER USE A NON DETERGENT OIL.
To make sure you have the right amount of oil use the dip stick half way in the fill up and you will see the indicator mark that it is missing or over filled. Overfilled by ( ½ ) an once is not to worry about.

That engine like I said takes 15 ½ ounces of oil. Or metric just about 750ml from a 1000 ml bottle.
Then reinsert your spark plug wire.
This should be done every 10 to fifteen hours of operation.
The same applies for the sharpening of the blade and the balance of the cutter.

The Wilson Manufacturing Company uses a machine to stamp out parts for lawn mowers. On average, the machine will produce 7 defective parts for each 1,000 made. Using a direct variation formula, determine the number of defective parts that would be expected if the machine produced 7,000 parts.

Answer
Hi,
The direct variation formula is y = kx, where k is the constant of variation. In this case, the parts made is "x" and the defectives is "y." Plug your given points in to find the constant of variation.

7 = 1000k
1000k = 7
k = 7/1000

So now you found your constant of variation. You have also created your equation. Plug 7,000 for x to find out the number of defectives for the new one.

y = 7/1000 * 7000
y = 49

So if the machine produced 7,000 parts, 49 would be defective.
